Did You Get a Tablet for the Holidays?

Chances are, the answer to that question is yes for many of you, considering the number of American’s who own tablet devices like the iPad just about doubled during the holiday season. According to the Pew Research Center, the “…share of adults in the United States who own tablet computers nearly doubled from 10% to 19% between mid-December and early January.”

That’s phenomenal growth – basically doubling in a 30-day period. A significant part of this growth can be attributed to the introduction of lower priced tablets like the Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook, both of which are priced significantly lower than the market leading Apple iPad.

The e-reader segment that includes the Barns and Noble Nook, among others, also saw matching significant growth, “…from 10% to 19% over the same time period.”
