Scholarships
Clear Creek Telephone & TeleVision continues its commitment to higher education by supporting local students with college scholarships. Annually, the board of directors reviews the scholarship fund and determines the number and amount of scholarship awards to be given the following year. In 2010, four awards in the amount of $2,500 each are available.
To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must be a high school senior maintaining at least a "B" average and be an active member of Clear Creek Telephone & TeleVision (or immediate family member legally residing in the member's home who subscribes to Clear Creek Telephone & TeleVision services.) In addition, the student must be planning to attend a college or trade school certified by the Northwest Accreditation Association, another regional accreditation association, or the National Association of Trade and Technical schools. The application deadline was March 1, 2010. Winners were announced at the Cooperative's Annual Meeting on April 29, 2010 at the Redland Grange Hall.
The 2010 winners are: Julia Matton, Jonathan Pritchard, Katherine Waite and Katherine Winner. For more information about each of these students see the May/June 2010 edition of Clear Lines on our News page.

Other Scholarship Opportunities:
As a member of two national telecommunications associations, Clear Creek Telephone & TeleVision cooperative members may be eligible to apply for two other college scholarship programs. Eligibility and application requirements for the Foundation For Rural Service (FRS) and the Foundation For Rural Education and Development (FRED) are explained below.
Foundation For Rural Service (FRS)
Recognizing the disparities between rural and urban access to higher education, the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) offers an annual college scholarship program to help further higher education among rural youth. In May of 2010, FRS will award $75,000 in the form of thirty, $2,500 scholarships to rural high school seniors across the United States. Awards are granted to students sponsored by a National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) member company and, if chosen, are awarded $2,000 by FRS in addition to a $500 scholarship match by their sponsoring company. Students whose parents are active members of Clear Creek Telephone & TeleVision may apply for the scholarships. More information is available at www.frs.org. The application deadline was March 1, 2010.
Foundation for Rural Education and Development (FRED)
Each year, the Foundation for Rural Education and Development awards scholarships to rural America's most accomplished and intelligent students. Students whose parents are active members of Clear Creek Telephone & TeleVision may apply for the scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $5,000. More information is available at www.fred.org. The application deadline was Friday, January 29, 2010 for submitting the application to Clear Creek. No more than four (4) applications can be submitted from Clear Creek. Selected applicants must be available for interviews by Clear Creek to process the letter of nomination and application.
